An 18-year-old girl died after falling from the terrace of a three-storey building under mysterious circumstances in South Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave on Saturday.
The girl — identified as Rajpriya — was a Class XII student of a South Delhi school and used to live with her uncle’s (former Bihar Assembly legislator) family in the third floor of the flat. According to police, no angle of suspicion has been found as the deceased’s family has claimed that she accidentally fell off the terrace. DCP, South, Premnath said, “No case was registered in the incident.”
A Police officer said the incident was reported to them around 4 am from the hospital where the girl was declared brought dead on her admission.
“As she was trying to throw some currency notes from the terrace, she lost her balance and fell off. None of the adult member was present at the time of the incident. She suffered multiple injuries and by the time she was rushed to the hospital, she was declared dead,” said a police officer.
According to police, the girl had held a get together for her sister and close friends on Friday night when the adults were not home. She came to the balcony around 2.30 am to check on a friend, who had just arrived in an auto-rickshaw, when she lost balance and slipped.
