Riding high on the success of Mein Tera Hero, Nargis Fakhri wants to turn experimental. Fakhri says she is a woman of substance and doesn't want to be reduced to a glamgirl in Bollywood. Deebashree Mohanty catches up with the stunner at a tech event

As we speak, Mein Tera Hero has already grossed over Rs 50 crore and is on course to enter the Rs 100 crore club but that is not why Nargis Fakhri is beaming. It’s not even love, the lady wants us to believe. “I feel refreshed. As if I’ve had a new lease of life in the film industry. Earlier on, I was a little confused about the roles I wanted to do and whether I should stick around forever in this industry. But now, I’m sorted. I know where I belong,” Fakhri tells you. This is her third trip to the Capital this year, yet she hasn’t had enough.

“I still haven’t explored the city and nor have I tasted its unique food. I would love to mingle with Delhiites,” she says posing for the shutterbugs. Unlike other model/actors, Fakhri isn’t stingy about flashing her million-dollar smile for the paparazzi. “It’s part of my profession. I don’t want to be dragged into unnecessary controversies but I am completely in favour of publicising my films and posing for my fans. Isn’t that what celebrities are meant to doIJ,” she asks. Having declared her love for the media, Fakhri is, however, quick to add: “I’ve my personal space and I’m not willing to share that with anyone”.

Try probing her about the camaraderie she shares with Varun Dhawan and Ileana D’cruz, and she suddenly starts glowing. “We’ve become Best Friends Forever! The best part about us is that each one has an individuality and we respect in friends. We are genuine people with normal desires. I would love to do another film with both of them,” she says, adding that Varun and she have become SMS buddies too.

But, is she happy with the way her latest film has turned out or was she expecting a meatier roleIJ “I’ve as much screen space as Ileana and other actors. So, there is no complaining on that front. The role turned out to be positive for me in every way — I had a lead role, lots of screen space and tons of fun shooting for this film. I’m pleased with the way the film has been appreciated,” she says.

What about the critics who treat masala films with disdainIJ “Well, I respect them for what they do. But I also pray that they get the brains to appreciate a no-brainer too. A film is a film for God’s sake! If they are so interested in films with grey matter, they should watch only documentaries. But before that they need to get a life!,” Fakhri says without a care.

According to the buzz, the Mumbai girl has impressed Karan Johar who now desperately wants her for his next project. “Ha ha. He hasn’t made me an offer yet but he did agree that my frankness and daredevilry has bowled him over,” Fakhri concludes. Attagirl!
