Facing the prospect of being projected by opponents as a party of killers in the campaign for the coming Assembly polls following the surrender of top leader P Jayarajan in the case of the murder of RSS leader Manoj of Elanthodath of Kathiroor, Kannur, the Kerala CPI(M) has resorted to playing the victim by alleging that the RSS-BJP, Kerala Government, Congress and the CBI have joined hands to crush it.
On Saturday, the CPI(M) leadership accused the CBI of baying for Jayarajan’s blood despite his serious heart condition. Jayarajan, CPI(M)’s Kannur district secretary and 25th accused in the case, was remanded in judicial custody for a month by a court in Thalassery on Friday and was shifted to a hospital on the basis of a medical report.
“Now the CBI has approached the court for getting Jayarajan in custody for interrogation. How can the CBI be so cruel to a man suffering from such serious heart problemsIJ” asked MV Jayarajan, CPI(M)’s State committee member. “Jayarajan is such a law-abiding citizen that he surrendered in the court after voluntarily taking discharge from the hospital,” he added.
