A court in Hyderabad has granted bail to a person who had killed a youth for sexually harassing his daughter and fatally attacking her. Vallabh Rao, who was arrested by the police on Friday following the incident in Prashantnagar area of Hyderabad, was released by the court on Saturday. The court took note of the circumstances in which the person had to act in self-defence and kill the assailant Mallesh.
However Vallabh Rao's daughter Nirja, who was badly injured in the axe attack, continues to be in critical condition. A medical bulletin said that Nirja was administered four units of blood and was under observation in the Intensive Care Unit. Nirja's mother and brother were also injured in the attack but they are out of danger.
Police inspector A Purushottam said that Mallesh, alias Raju was stalking Nirja for a long time and wanted to marry her. But her family rejected the proposal. On Friday he reached Nirja's home with an axe and attacked the family members seriously injuring Nirja, her mother and brother. Three onlookers were also injured.
When Vallabh Rao reached home on hearing about the attack, Mallesh tried to attack him also but he managed to snatch the axe from his hand. In his counter attack, Mallesh died on the spot.
