Controversial policeman to probe Goel family murder

The controversial Police Inspector Gorakh Nath Yadav has been appointed as the Investigation Officer (IO) to probe the murder of Satish Goel's family. His appointment has come as a shock as a murder suspect was allegedly killed in Indirapuram Police station, which Yadav was in-charge of.

The appointment of the inspector, who had not been given clean chit, has drawn flak. He has been made in-charge of city's most prestigious Kotwali, under which the locality falls where seven members of a family were butchered to death.

Five personnel of Indirapuram Police station including, Inspector in-charge Gorakh Nath Yadav, Sub-Inspector on night duty Rajvir Singh, night sentries Chetan Yadav and Ram Chandra, and night clerk Tota Ram, were suspended. A criminal case under Section 302 of IPC, including other sections was also filed against unidentified persons after the autopsy report confirmed that the murder suspect was strangulated to death in April, when the accused was in police custody.

Ghaziabad SSP Nitin Tiwari said, "Investigation into the matter is still on. Then Inspector in-charge, Gorakh Nath Yadav was not named in the FIR. There is a shortage of good officers in the Ghaziabad Police force, hence Yadav has been given the charge of the prestigious Kotwali".
