Conspiracies being hatched to destabilise J&K Govt: Dy CM

Published on:
Jammu & Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on Saturday created ripples in the corridors of power by alleging efforts were being made by some elements in the State administration to destabilise the alliance Government headed by Mufti Mohd Sayeed.   Dr Singh, however, avoided naming the elements in the State administration. Issuing stern warning to the vested interests he said strict action would follow after the inquiry was over in the case.
Reacting strongly on the latest controversy surrounding a State Government circular ‘’Hoisting of State Flag’’ by the constitutional bodies in  the State Dr Nirmal Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a sports function in KK Haku stadium, “A major attempt (with regard to State flag issue) was made to destabilise the Government. But when we debated the issue within the Government, and reaction we got from big people, I can say with confidence a big conspiracy was hatched against the Government.”
The circular was issued by the Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD) MA Bukhari on March 12 directing the constitutional authorities to maintain sanctity of the State Flag, at all costs, as is being done in respect of the Union Flag.  After the BJP took up the matter at the highest level the same circular was withdrawn by the J&K Government on Friday claiming the same was not approved by the competent authority. “Yesterday, an attempt was made, on which the Government’s stand has come,” Singh said.
