Congress and BJP have condemned the AAP Government’s new excise policy which came in effect from Saturday. The new excise policy will pave way for the establishment of microbreweries at hotels and restaurants in the national Capital. On the other hand, the AAP Government has issued a press statement, claiming at ending the decades-old “inspector raj”. “As per the police, the microbreweries will now be allowed to function at hotels and restaurants after obtaining licence. The allowing of microbreweries will make available to the citizens of Delhi, fresh beer in different flavors, as is available in other places like Gurgaon, Bengaluru etc,” the press statement said.

lambasting the AAP Government’s excise policy, BJP MlA Vijendra Gupta alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal Government is encouraging to drink liquor or beer by allowing microbreweries in hotels and restaurants. “This Government is facilitated the opening of beer shops in every nook and corner of Delhi. This will allow import of beer from foreign countries in large quantities, giving access to drink around the houses of the people,” said Gupta. He added that the BJP has not only condemned this policy but also warned the AAP Government on having to face strong opposition by the Party on this policy. Expressing displeasure, the former Congress MlA Jaikishan also criticised the decision saying that the move will increase crime rate further in Delhi.
