Cocaine seized from 'rogue' businessman's Kochi flat

Two days after he was arrested for ramming his Hummer SUV into a security guard and beating him up at the Sobha City apartment complex at Puzhakkal near Thrissur, cocaine worth lakhs of rupees was seized from controversial businessman Muhammad Nisham's Kochi flat on Saturday. The police arrested young generation film actor Shine Tom Chacko and four other young women including two fashion models from the flat amidst a "Smokers' Party" generating suspicion that the apartment could have been a hangout for celebrity drug abusers and that Nisham (38), said to be drug abuser himself, could be involved in Kochi's flourishing drug trade.

The women arrested with actor Shine were Blessy, an assistant director, Sneha, owner of a travel firm, and fashion models Tinsy and Reshma. They have admitted to the police that the cocaine had been sourced from Goa. The flat was currently leased by Reshma but the police said they were yet to ascertain whether Nisham had really leased it out to the model.

Kochi Police Commissioner KG James said, “We have arrested all five and seized ten grams of cocaine worth Rs10 lakh from the flat.” All the flat's occupants were on the drug at the time of the raid early Saturday morning. It is now suspected that Nisham’s flat could be a hangout frequented by celebrity drug abusers in Kochi. “We are examining every angle,” said James.
