Eyeing a fourth consecutive term in the Capital, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit is spearheading party campaign single-handedly in Delhi Assembly polls in the absence of star campaigners. In her addresses, she charged BJP and Aam Aadmi Party of a vicious campaign against the Congress Government on power tariff. She said they (BJP and AAP) are intentionally misleading the people on the issue.

Apart from a roadshow in her Assembly, the Congress leader addressed six rallies on Saturday evening. Dikshit started her campaign spree from Palam Assembly seat in the evening where she participated in a meeting in Dwarka. Her day’s engagement came to an end with a convention in Walled City, part of Ballimaran seat. Here, Dikshit sought votes for Haroon Yusuf. Before that she also attended rallies in Vikaspuri, Rajouri Garden, Madipur and Rajinder Nagar area.

“The BJP and AAP have, in fact, taken for granted this issue as the only missile to dislodge the Government, which has already displayed its credential and accessibility. Both parties are daydreaming. Their missile would prove to be a dud,” Dikshit said, claiming that Delhi is the only State in the country where round-the-clock reliable, quality and uninterrupted power supply is available.

“The Opposition is making false promises; the tariff cannot be changed or amended by the Government as DERC has the sole right to decide the tariff, keeping in view the input cost and other factors. They can fulfil their promise only by effecting power cut between 30 per cent and 50 per cent of the supply,” Dikshit added.

Earlier in the day, Dikshit undertook a roadshow in BK Dutt Colony of South Delhi. The area falls under New Delhi constituency. She also visited South Avenue area and urged residents to support the Congress party for uninterrupted growth of their localities.

In South Avenue, she flagged off a cycle rally as part of the election campaign and addressed a public meeting. Dikshit assured residents that the Congress would continue offering a helping hand to the poor and weaker sections of society as the party has a vision of welfare and development. later, Dikshit continued her campaign in BK Dutt Colony under her mass contact programme in the constituency. She undertook a roadshow to cover all lanes and blocks.
