Civil Services body petitions FinMin on IAS' dominance

Published on:

The Confederation of Civil Service Associations (CoCSA) has submitted a representation to the Finance Ministry demanding that committees related to implementation of 7th Central Pay Commission should not be dominated by the IAS and there should be equitable representation to various services in any such body.

In its representation, the CoCSA also stated that former IAS officer Vivek Rae, a member of the CPC violated the principle of natural justice (no man should be judge in own cause). “He (Rae) should have recused himself from discussion in inter service relativities with the IAS, rather than making dissent remarks against other Services and favouring his own Service i.e. the IAS,” read the representation by CoCSA.

The CoCSA that represents 20 civil services also demanded that the “biased” comments of Rae should be ignored.

The body of the civil services also demanded parity in service conditions and equality of opportunity for senior level posts so as to encourage meritocracy in the bureaucracy for fast development of the country.

It also sought parity in deputations and sought implementation of the CPC recommendations relating to the one that seeks to do away with the ‘two year edge’ to the IAS.

It further sought parity in pay for all services as recommended by CPC member Dr Rathin Roy.
