CAT relief for suspended Delhi officer

Published on:
The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has directed lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to take appropriate action on the suspension period between June 2009 and December 2010 of petitioner Vivekanand Sharma, a senior officer of Delhi, and release his salary of that period as there was no chargesheet filed against him in the first 90 days of suspension.
The Tribunal has also directed the lieutenant Governor  to consider that period as ‘spent on duty’. The Tribunal has given eight-week time to the lieutenant Governor and Director Employment to implement its order. Sharma was suspended from duty for a period of one- and-half year even as no chargesheet was filed against him in the first 90 days of his suspension period.
