Considering that our country has six national parties, 47 regional outfits and 1,563 unrecognised dispensations, it is not surprising that some of them end up with quaint, if not downright funny names. SUNDAY PIONEER brings you a list of some such political parties and charters which have managed to get themselves registered with the Election Commission on a payment of a Rs 10,000 fee and a 100-member list
Watch me if you can!
Name: Jagte Raho Party.
Headquarters: C/o Ms Kshama R Desai, 2, Vatika Bunglows, Near Sabari School, Vasna Road, Baroda, Gujarat.
Jagte Raho Party — the cry of the night watchman — which reminds one to be vigilant, in fact wants its members to guard the nation. The party’s aim is to be an anti-corruption watchdog.
Washed away or here to stayIJ
Name: Indian Oceanic Party.
Headquarters: K-316, MB Road, lado Sarai, New Delhi, 110030.
It is strange that the party that has named itself the Indian Oceanic Party has a telephone as its election symbol — representing a connection between people. Stranger still that the party is headquartered in Delhi, which is nowhere near an ocean. The party’s website says it is “an ocean of philosophies, an ocean of honest people, an ocean where the power of creating a prosperous India is developed.” The website also says that this party is for the people to develop an ideology and the party’s agenda is to make the nation proud and development of youth.
Global whatIJ
Name: Pyramid Party of India.
Headquarters: 2-1-83, Kola Street, Tirupati, 517501, Andhra Pradesh.
According to this party’s website, it has been formed to transform all the people of India into mediators, enlightened persons, vegetarians and peace loving people during this life-time itself through the methodology of the electoral process. In other words, the party has been formed to establish a new era of global spirituality on Earth.
A peace of cake
Name: life Peaceful Party.
Headquarters: Sarvadharma Bhawan, Hindu-Muslim Viswa, Shanthi Ashrama and Komusowharda, Vishwashanthi, Sarvadharma Ashrma Trust, Rajanagara, Poona-Bangalore Road, Tumkur 572106, Karnataka.
This unrecognised but registered party doesn’t have much information to offer to citizens. Except for the address, very little is known about it or its manifesto. It may seek to bring peace into our lives but the fact is that most political parties only bring mayhem with them.
OMG! party
Name: Holy Blessing People’s Party.
Headquarters: Shop No 3, laxmi Niwas Building, MN Road, Kurla(W), Mumbai, 400070, Maharashtra.
Why would a party that has the blessing of God himself want to contest elections is a tad difficult to understand. But then stranger things happen in India.
labour painsIJ NO PROBlEM
Name: labour and Job Seekers Party of India.
Headquarters: 66, Royapettah High Road, Mylapore, Chennai 600004, Tamil Nadu.
Are you tired of looking for a job and unable to find oneIJ In that case, the best option will be to join the labour and Job Seekers Party Of India as it seeks to provide 100 per cent jobs for the people of India.
Mother of all parties
Name: Akhil Bharatiya Bharat Mata Putra Paksha.
Headquarters: Nandurbar 425412, District Dhulia, Maharashtra.
One might have heard of Pitr Paksha (fortnight of ancestors) but what’s putra pakshaIJ Putra refers to son, so we hope this isn’t a party that doesn’t believe in celebrating the girl child. May be not, as the first part of their name translates to ‘All India Mother India’. Also not sure whether it is just a mother-son party (like some that we know) or something else, but amusing nevertheless.
love ke liye kuchh bhi
Name: National love Party.
Very few would have heard about this party (established in 2012) which claims to have a pan-India presence. According to its website, “in India love is treated as a crime but love is not a crime. The love couples and love marriage couple face so many problems and they are always looking for such type of an organisation which can help them in their love matters. The National love Party (NlP) helps lovers and love marriage couples. We handle all type of matters related to love and love marriages,” their website says.
Yes, no, go minister!
Name: Ministerial System Abolition Party.
Headquarters: Ministerial System Abolition Party 25, Burtolla Street, Kolkata.
Does this party really existIJ Well, it is a tad difficult to ascertain because of the name. But if this party is all about abolishing the Ministers from acting in an unruly manner in our Parliament and Assemblies, one is sure that it will have many members.
The blah party!
Name: The Religion Of Man Revolving Political Party of India.
Headquarters: Kabitirtha, Kabitanagar, P O Bongaon, District 24-Parganas (North) 743235, West Bengal.
This party has managed to get itself registered with the Election Commission even though it is an unrecognised party. With words like religion, party, man and India and most importantly revolving, one can’t even begin to guess what this one is all about.
