Urging Muslim voters to use their democratic right and ensure that they help to defeat communal forces, Mayawati appealed them to vote for the Bahujan Samaj Party to provide a fearless society to every sections of the society. In her fervent appeal she forgot that the Supeme Court has warned parties and leaders not to ask for votes on caste and commuity lines. She was addressing the media persons in lucknow on Saturday.

The BSP chief wondered as to how could anyone vote for a ‘tainted’ Chief Minister of the SP, who has failed to secure the lives and property of the people of UP.

The BSP chief claimed that people have not forgotten the 500 odd communal riots in UP during this regime, besides the failures of the UP and Central Governments. She also raised the reservation issue and warned that if the BJP cames to power in UP, then reservation to Dalits and Backwards could be under threat.

“BJP is day-dreaming of getting power in UP and the RSS leaders have started making statements on reservation. But, the BSP has vowed not to hwart the BJP at any cost. The BJP government at the Centre has already taken several steps to affect reservation policy,” Mayawati said.

“No Government or outfits like BJP and RSS, can not snatch the right to reservation. If the Modi government brings a law for ending reservation, people from these sections would teach a unforgetable lesson,” she asserted.

Mayawati was reacting to RSS leader Manmohan Vaidya advocating review of reservation policy while speaking at Jaipur literary Festival on Friday.

“People in the BJP and RSS should desist from issuing threats to end reservation as ithas been provided as per Indian Constitution. Statements like these only exposes double standards and casteist mindset of these people,” Mayawati pointed out.

Suggesting the Congress not to ally with the SP as it would be charged for the failures of Akhilesh Yadav government, the BSP chief said,” The condition of Congress is so bad in UP that they are unable to find candidates despite taking out Yatras and Khaat Sabhas. While SP has fielded a tainted CM face and the BJP has failed to project any due to iternal rumblings, only the BSP left to give an honest and capaable leadership in UP,” she claimed.

Criticising the currency note ban, the BSP leader said that even if BJP leaders praise the move, the reality is that it has also given problems to the its workers who are unable to face the anger of 90 per cent of the people.
