A bride along with three other women suffered injuries in an acid attack on Saturday by a youth in ludhiana’s Sarabha Nagar locality, police said. The 22-year-old victim, a resident of Barnala, was rushed to the DMC Hospital where her condition was stated to be stable, police said.
The man aged about 25 managed to escape on a vehicle parked outside the beauty salon in the Sarabha Nagar locality, Commissioner of Police (CP), ludhiana NS Dhillon said.
The CP said that based on the preliminary details provided by the victim’s family the man also belonged to Barnala. Dhillon said that the boy used to make threatening calls to the girl asking her to marry him or face consequences. The accused is a brother of a friend of the victim; police said, adding that police parties had been sent to Barnala to nab the boy.
