A 16-year-old boy has been detained in connection with the May 18 incident, when a hoax call was made saying that a bomb had been planted in a flight scheduled from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
On Wednesday, a hoax call was received by the airport officials that a bomb has been planted in a flight that was scheduled from Delhi at 4 am. After investigation, it was found out that the call was made at the Mumbai based call centre of Air India.
Following the incident, an alert was declared and the call was found to be hoax.
Considering the gravity of the airport security and the public fear, alarm and panic created by the caller by this hoax call, a case under Section 505 (b) of the IPC and 3 (1) (d) — the suppression of unlawful acts against the safety of civil aviation act — was registered at the IGI Airport Police Station.
Subsequently, raids in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were conducted and one Juvenile Conflict with law (JCl) was found involved behind the crime.
