In order to woo the significant Poorvanchali voters in the national Capital, the Poorvanchal Cell of Delhi BJP will be organising a meeting of its workers on Sunday.

The meeting aims at garnering support from the community during the upcoming Assembly polls that will play a crucial role in strengthening the party’s prospects in the polls. The event will be held at Yamuna Sport Complex that will also see the participation of former BJP president Nitin Gadkari, noted Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari, who has recently joined the BJP, and Dr Harsh Vardhan, a frontrunner for BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate.

The BJP expects a significant improvement to its Poorvanchali voteshare with the arrival of Tiwari in the electoral fray in Delhi. The natives of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, commonly referred to as Poorvanchalis, constitute nearly 40 per cent of Delhi’s total voters and Tiwari commands popularity among the community. The BJP is pulling out all stops to encash on the ‘neglect’ of the community during the last 15 years by the Congress-led Government.

The party has also announced to declare Chhath, a key festival celebrated by the Poorvanchalis, a public holiday in Delhi. Meanwhile, the BJP continued with its household visits in the city on Saturday as part of its campaigning for the December 4 polls. Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel visited lodi Gardens in the Capital interacting with visitors and sharing his vision for development of the city.

Goel met more than a 100 members of Saturday and Sunday Clubs at the garden who shared their concerns over various issues nagging the city, including high inflation, power and water tariff and corruption, among others.

“The visitors at the garden discussed the matter of rising prices of essential commodities, widespread corruption, absence of governance in Delhi and concerns over safety of women, among other issues plaguing in the city. People also questioned how the BJP would solve the problems Delhi is facing,” said Goel, adding people were told about the broader framework on which the BJP would face challenges head-on, if voted to power.

Goel told them the BJP will slash the power tariff by 30 per cent. He also said the BJP would make administration accessible to people, whose concerns will have the topmost priority for the Government. The administration will be made transparent, efficient and sympathetic to people’s concerns under the BJP,” he promised.
