The BJP will gherao Assam Assembly on December 9 demanding removal of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for his alleged comment on Hindi-speaking persons leading the party. "We are going to gherao the Assembly on December 9 against the chief minister's statement. We will demand his removal from the post," BJP Election Management Committee Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters.
Sarma said Gogoi's reported comment that "the state unit of BJP is led by Hindi-speaking people" is divisive in nature and it should be opposed by all sections of the society. "He (Gogoi) is trying to divide the society on the basis of language. It is the most divisive and most intolerant language used by the chief minister," Sarma said.
