BJP taunts JD-U's Sharad Yadav
Published on:

The BJP, on Saturday, took a swipe at Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav, former NDA convenor, for abstaining from Joint Parliamentary Committee’s (JPC) proceedings on 2G scam on Friday saying that “disciples” of Ram Manohar lohia, “champions” of anti-Congress and “critics” of corruption will now have to explain their disappearing act.

The JPC report on the Spectrum scam was adopted with 16:11 votes in favour after two members of the JD-U abstained from the proceedings. On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) backed the report, which gives a clean chit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

Ramchandra Prasad Singh, a close aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was the other JD-U member who was absent during proceedings. “The conduct of the disciples of Ram Manohar lohia was surprising. Yadav, a champion of anti-Congress ideology, was missing. Nitish’s former advisor also did not turn up. We do not know if the ‘special status’ toffee was the reason behind the compromise,”

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said. He also took a jibe at Nitish Kumar saying that the Bihar Chief Minister has suddenly started seeing “good” in everything that the Congress does these days. “His praises of Rahul Gandhi, who opposed the ordinance of convicted lawmaker, coincided with JD-U members’ absence from the JPC meeting. Is it just a coincidenceIJ” Prasad questioned.
