The Delhi BJP on Saturday demanded an impartial and high level judicial enquiry into the alleged scam in Delhi Jal Board. Party’s chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan said that the chairperson of DJB, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, is causing a loss of crores to the Jal Board in connivance with private companies. Seeking a fresh appointment of a judicial officer as the head of the board, he asked impartial enquiry be ensured in the case and Dikshit be removed from the post of chairperson of DJB.
“Private companies have been awarded contracts in Malviya Nagar and Vasant Kunj projects. The Government has deliberately created shortage in the name leakage so that water supply may be privatised just like privatisation of power and hundreds of crores may be misappropriated,” Vardhan alleged.
Seeking her resignation, BJP’s nominee of New Delhi seat Vijender Gupta also said that though various scams running into crores surfaced during her tenure, she keeps denying all allegations outright. “She has been taking media as well as the citizens of Delhi for a ride, time and again but this time she cannot escape,” he said.
