BJP questions AAP Govt's decision to impose sewer cess

Published on:

lambasting the Aam Admi Party (AAP) Government decision to impose sewer surcharge from Rs200 to Rs500 per household per month, BJP MlA Vijendra Gupta said that this has proved that AAP Government is anti-poor.

“The Government has come to power on the promise to provide free water to Delhiites will now recover Rs500 crores from them in the name of sewerage surcharge. This surcharge will also be charged from those people of unauthorised colonies who till date were not required to pay any amount for water and sewerage. It is shocking that this surcharge will be charged from even those people who do not have sewer connection.

This surcharge will be added in the electricity bills of households which do not have water and sewer connection. Non-payment of sewerage charge will result into disconnection of electricity,” he said. Questioning the AAP Government’s motive, Gupta questioned the Delhi Government’s intention to convene an emergency meeting and approve the proposal that is anti poor.

The BJP leader said that his Party had warned the people that AAP is a farce. “This party has come to power on false promises made to the people. Now the anti- people face of the Aam Aadmi Party and their chief Arvind Kejriwal is before the people. He further said that the decision of Delhi Government to levy sewerage surcharge is totally wrong,” he added.
