Reacting strongly to the resignation of two MlCs of his party, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav charged the BJP of indulging in political corruption from Bihar to UP which was being taken note by the people.
"The BJP engineered defections in my party. They have done this in many States, most recently in Bihar and Gujarat, where they lured Congress MlAs. The BJP is offering inducements and other means to break Samajwadi Party only to avoid elections. They are scared of public wrath and have hence adopted the easier path to remain in power,''said Yadav. "The people are watching and will hold the BJP accountable in 2019 lok Sabha poll. The party had promised to waive off farm loans and provide two crore jobs to youths which they have failed to deliver,''said the SP chief. "Taking a jibe at Bukkhal Nawab, Yadav said, "Main Bukkal Nawab ji se baat karoonga ek baar, agar woh abhi tak kahin qaid na ho gaye hon to." (I will talk to Bukkhal Nawab if he has not been caged so far). "I had visted his residence on Eid and tried to contact him from the party office on Saturday.
His driver said on phone that Nawab Sahab was busy somewhere and he would call back," said Akhilesh.Refuting the SP chief's charges, Health minister Siddarthnath Singh said, "The BJP has no role in resignation of the SP MlCs. The SP should explain to the people as to why their MlCs were deserting the party. The BJP has a huge majority in Assembly and we don't need defectors.''
Dairy minister Chaudhary lakshmi Narayan, who esorted BSP MlC Jaiveer Singh to the Council chairman's residence, said, "People have realised that Yogi Adityanath and Modi were needed for development of UP and India respectively. There is no substance in Akhilesh Yadav's charges".
