Delhi Congress on Saturday challenged BJP to dissolve the Delhi Assembly if they are so confident of a ‘Modi wave’ in the city which has been attributed for ABVP’s clean sweep in Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. “If BJP is so confident of a Modi wave in the national Capital, the saffron party should then immediately demand the dissolution of Assembly and face elections,” Delhi Congress spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said. Delhi Congress leader however, said BJP should not attribute the DUSU election victory to a ‘Modi wave’.
“There is no ‘Modi wave’ in the city. BJP should not gloat over the defeat of NSUI, which is a students’ organisation. This election cannot be seen as a political defeat or win. They (ABVP) have won elections due to spreading of misinformation over FYUP and other issues,” Sharma said. The Congress leader also said that NSUI’s presidential candidate has lost elections by just 900 votes, which is not a big margin.
