With the second cut-off round the corner, colleges of Delhi University are flooded with excessive commotion with students in large number, opting for courses which are not in accordance with their interest further giving rise to numerous applicants against a seat.

As marked in Sri Venkateswara College, renowned college of South Campus; on the third day of admission process, more than 170 admissions have been confirmed in English (Hons) by the college administration against 39 seats.

However, the college had settled to 97.5 per cent in its first cut-off for BCom (Hons), equivalent to Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), but could only attract 12 applicants till now.

“Students are always in awe of North Campus but this time first cut off list has made the picture clear to the students and it is expected that the second cut off list will be dropped by at least 1 per cent, which will enable the applicants turn towards South Campus,” said Principal, Venkateswara College, Dr P Hemalatha Reddy.

Reddy has further confirmed that there will be no second cut-off list for BA (Honours) History, BA (Honours) Sociology, BA (Honours) English and BA (Honours) Political Science from their college.

“We are not left with any choice due to sky-rocketing cut-offs. I have to enroll in BA (Honours) Political Science in Venkateswara College though I was seeking admission in Physics (Honours) in North Campus colleges,” said an applicant.

Reportedly, there are several other colleges of Delhi University which might not be releasing the second cut-off lists for many courses. Rajdhani College, for instance, would not be releasing the second cut- off list for B.Sc (Physics) honours, BA (honours ) political Science , BCom (honours ) and BSc (honours ) Chemistry. While Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College (ARSD) would not release second cut off list for BA (Honours), Economics and English (Honours).

Delhi University has 54,000 seats for various courses but many colleges would not release the second cut off list for some courses. The second cut-off is scheduled to be out on June 30.
