Neelam langeh, first-time BJP MlA from Ramban and a staunch devotee of lord Rama, is once again making waves in his new avatar as Goddess ‘Sita’ in a local Ramleela club.
During the day he plays an active BJP MlA and shuttles between different places, some times even on foot to attend public functions and reach out to his electorate.
After sunset he locks himself in a room. Goes for a complete makeover before presenting himself in front of an audience in a different ‘avatar’.
Neelam, a theatre enthusiast, has been playing the role of Goddess Sita for the last seven years in the Ramleela club, Maitra.
last year during the Navratra festival langeh wooed his audience from the stage besides seeking their votes.
Now after becoming an MlA Neelam langeh has not gone back on his poll promises and promise to continue palying Sita to the club.
He has kept his word and this year too he is entertaining his audience with his scintillating performance in the role of Goddess ‘Sita’.
“I consider myself very lucky. I am performing the role of Goddess Sita for last seven years” Neelam langeh said.
“During the nine-day-long festival I fast and sleep on the floor. Ramleela Club, Maitra gave me my first break and today I am performing the role of Sita for the seventh consecutive year,” Neelam revealed narrating his long journey.
“This way I stay connected with the masses who have elected me with a thumping majority”, langeh commented with passion in his voice.
On Friday evening Neelam langeh, dressed in bridal make up participated in the ‘Sita swayamvar’.
Dressed in complete bridal finery 34-year-old langeh was comfortable in his new avatar. “I had taken a pledge to continue to perform on the stage even after becoming an MlA. Today I am here to fulfil my own promise and commitment made before the audience last year”, langeh told The Pioneer over telephone from his Assembly constituency.
“I will continue to perform even if I am inducted in the Council of Ministers in the State”, langeh said sharing his long-cherished wish to serve the people of his area.
