Angad Bedi, Soorma’s Bikram, tells Gurbani Singh that he is emotionally attached to the character

Angad Bedi, who played Bikram in Soorma, is an actor who is making waves, what with movies like Pink, Dear Zindagi, Tiger Zinda Hai and his latest Soorma.

“I am emotionally attached to my role in Soorma. Though every project is challenging, playing Bikram was difficult. Other than learning hockey, adapting to Bikram’s body language and bringing in the energy was quite a challenge. Other than Bikram, I was particularly nervous about my role in Pink. Playing a grey character was a challenge but with our writer-producer Shoojit Sircar and Amitabh Bachchan it turned into a great experience,” Bedi tells you.

Bedi who was always passionate about becoming an actor is proud to have made space in the industry. “I grew up watching Mr Bachchan’s films like Agneepath and Shakti. He is my idol and I always tried to learn from his acting. I feel blessed to have made it in the industry because I know coming from a sports background it is not easy to make your place in acting.

“Also unlike sports, this industry doesn’t have just 11 players who are the best but a whole lot of actors who are struggling to find a place for themselves,” he says.

Bedi would have loved to be part of films like Dangal. “I have enjoyed several movies and wanted to be a part of them. One of them is Dangal. It was a great movie and I would have loved to be in it. The other one is Farhaan Akhtar’s role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. I don’t mind playing roles in any genre as long as the role is performance-oriented. For me, it is about finding acceptance through my roles which I think I already have,” he says.

Bedi, who is happily married to actress Neha Dhupia, welcomes the institution of marriage. “I don’t feel any major changes in my life after my marriage. With Neha, everything turned out to be good as we both have a perfect balance of work and personal life. She is not only a beautiful life partner but also a great friend. We both understand how demanding our profession can be and we are absolutely fine with that,” Bedi tells you.

“Neha is a very sensible person and she has been in the industry for 15 years and so we both understand each other and know the struggles that we both have faced,” he adds.

Bedi is all set to explore something new in his work space and wants to try his hand at comedy.

“I would like to explore this genre. It is one of the hardest genres to do. I would love to work with Ashwini Tiwari, Suresh Triwedi and Shashank Khaitan. They’re great directors,” he tells you.

Bedi likes and appreciates the works of new generation actors like Ayushman Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao and feels they have the talent and hard work to excel in every field, not just Bollywood.
