Delhi Police’s trap to nab the gang of four auto-lifters prevailing in West Delhi’s Janakpuri area went unsuccessful as the latter managed to escape by firing at the team of police officials, on Friday night. Police, however, recovered and seized a Fortuner Car used by the four unidentified people.
The CCTV footage grabbed by police officials helped track the vehicle and thereafter it was recovered by the team, told police. However, the CCTV footage also showed a white Swift Dzire car which still could not be traced, added official. No police official was injured in the incident, told DCP (West) Pushpendra Kumar.
According to police officials, the team of West Delhi police swung into action after reports of two auto-lifts were filed in the Janakpuri police station. The team increased the patrolling in the area so as to avoid any other auto-lifting incident and during the same action on Friday night they suspected that the four persons in a car were planning to commit other crime.
