The other day, I was introduced to a senior journalist. Having learnt that I happen to be an astrologer, his instant response was: “I don’t believe in astrology at all. So, I keep off its perimeters.” “Well, if this discipline was really a belief mechanism, even I would have taken the same stand”, I responded. He countered, “What do you meanIJ Astrology doesn’t have a scientific validity. So, no rational person would encourage it.”
My friend, you have declared astrology a belief, based either on your own individualistic belief or hearsay. let me remind you that sense of rationality and scientific temper calls for an in-depth enquiry with an open mind, free from any preconditioning whatsoever, before arriving at judgment. And you don’t seem to have explored the premise on which this discipline works. let me inform you that astrology as a discipline doesn’t need any scientific validation. For, it is this very discipline that has helped modern science to have taken off.
A run into history becomes imperative to make things clear. In ancient time, agriculture alone was the life line of people. So, wise men of the yore were keen to acquire knowledge about all that would anyway influence the crop cycle. In the process, they first gathered that crop cycle moved in correspondence with weather cycle, which goes by annular motion of the Sun. They later realised that by and large the weather cycle follows a yearly pattern, but it remains subject to variation every year. In a bid to explore the reasons underlying such variation, the wise men explored the role played by other planetary bodies. Once, they had developed a fair understanding of the subject matter, they felt the need to formulate them. In the process they felt the need of symbols, and the first to evolve were the numbers identified with different planets. Had the system of numbers not come into place, and the world knows that it developed in India, science would not have had the ground to move.
Well, let me make it clear, the planetary bodies are not to be seen just as physical objects moving in the cosmos. They actually serve as markers to different energy streams flowing through nature, with one or the other planet in centre. And the fact that we are all a part of a unified organism, set into an interdependent frame work, how can we afford to be spared of their influenceIJ But having said that, let me add here that the planets are not the doers. We hold the key to all actions on our part, according as our individualistic mental dispensation. And an energy mapping of the heaven (read planetary alignment at the time of one’s birth), reflects upon the karmic carry over from the past, which defines one’s inherent mind-traits, and with a fair amount of precision. let me add here that it is the energy connect between the planetary radiations and the making of a being in energy frame, is what sets the premise of astrological study. So, this discipline can on no count be termed as belief.
The reason why many raise their fingers on the rationality of astrology is that they mistakenly take it as a destiny defining discipline, which it is not. It does, however, speak out of the making of an individual mind, which in fact defines one’s destiny trends. So, if we use this discipline to figure out one’s personality trends, it can serve as a very effective diagnostic tools towards human resource development. For, it may offer clues to necessary reform in one’s thought process, needed to ensure meaningful actions on our part.
A case in point is that of an ambitious young man, as would mind indicator Moon beautifully aligned to Uranus may mean. He took off in life early, and registered quick growth. But after tasting success, he lost his sense of alert. His business then suffered severe setback because of his own indiscrete moves, as a fallout of his personality inconsistencies. The astrological pointers are the Sun opposite Saturn; Mercury conjunct Mars, and both adverse to Rahu and Neptune; and Venus ill-disposed off to Neptune and Ketu.
The obvious implication is that as he became complacent, he lost his sense of direction. Following which, his unmindful impulsive acts, based on insensible reasoning and judgment, led to severe business setbacks. In the process, he lost heavily, and has not been able to recover so far. He could bounce back again, provided he addresses his fault lines.
