The living world, with all its diversity and enormity, happens to be a unified organic whole, where no individual entity has a reality independent of the entirety, and which includes the observer. It is compulsively set into an interdependent framework. For, no individual entity is capable enough to meet one’s existential needs in one’s own right. The obvious implication is that all of us would need to complement and supplement the efforts of each other, to service our existential needs in togetherness. This existential truth of life has been beautifully portrayed by the simile of an inverted Asvat (Banyan) tree in the Bhagwada Gita and Kathopanishada. The said tree is perceived with its roots up above in the cosmos, having the trunk, branches, and twigs with all the leaves thereon turned downwards. The root turned upwards means that nature holds the key to our existence, but for which, nothing will exist. Here again, if any component of the tree is ever separated from the main body, it will turn lifeless. They carry meaning so longer they are there as an integral part of the main tree. The obvious implication is that a live existence by itself in isolation, separated from the whole (nature), is simply inconceivable.
It, thus, implies that we all need to relate well with each other to carry on the cycle of life individually and collectively. Even fulfilment of individualistic aspirational urges would call for eliciting due support from all concerned. For, no creativity is possible in isolation. So, a big factor vital to success in life is how we relate to the self and those around. And to relate well to others, we need to care for their sensibilities and concerns, and treat them with dignity.
Remember; even the self is a complex organism, calling for its orderly functioning, particularly the multifaceted mind, the prime-mover of a being, and that too, in conformity with the larger orderliness of collective existence. The paradox, however, is that invariably we are all born unique, each mind preconditioned one way or the other, often in conflict with others. That often stands in way of our relationships. What further compounds our problem is that our ego centric mind is driven by the sense of relative perception. That, in the first place, creates ground for self-conflict, whereby we lack clarity in our vision and thought. Second, it puts us in comparison mode and makes us judgmental of others. A sense of divide thus comes into play, making it all the more difficult to relate well to others on even terms.
The question now is, how to resolve this riddleIJ The answer lies in becoming aware of the existential truths of life, and then live consciously in conformity with larger orderliness of nature. That, however, would not be possible unless we purify our minds by addressing our mental limitations. It, thus, becomes incumbent upon us to watch out mind-trends, address indwelling vulnerabilities, get over all preconditioning through educative inputs, and then explore existential dynamics.
A case in point is that of a father son duo, both running a big business enterprise. Their uneven relationship often tells upon their business interests, and yet they are not prepared to appreciate realities, because they are still stuck to their habits and attitudes.
The old man is born in Cancer lagna, with its lord Moon in a dual sign Gemini in the 12th house. Moon is ill-disposed off to the Sun, Rahu, and Jupiter. It implies, in the first place that though he wishes to live on his own exclusive terms, but with his vacillating tendency, would not know which way to proceed. Second, he has a suspicious mind-set. Third, as Moon changes colour every day, he will be subject to unpredictable mood swings. Fourth, he remains susceptible to become a victim of his own making. Fifth, he is emotionally volatile, who gets over exercised even on trivial issues, and keeps unnecessarily mulling over them for long. Mars placed adverse to Neptune and Uranus, speaks of a temperamental person, who is vulnerable to suffer from inferiority complex, and thereby identity crisis. Intelligence signifying Mercury placed adverse to mischievous Neptune accounts for his insensible reasoning and judgment. On top of that, his lagna sub-lord Mercury occupies the nakshatra owned by the Sun, which is posited in the Capricorn sign. This speaks of a self-centric person, least bothered about other’s sense of self-dignity. This man needs to remember that unless he keeps his support team in good humor, he will not prove to be a performer.
