Astroturf : Being true to the self

Astroturf : Being true to the self
Published on:

A highly ambitious guy, also armed with dramatic talent, at his age, was doing very well in career. But he nursed the dream of doing something in his own right that may help quickly make a mark for himself. He found an opportunity when Prime Minister Modi came forward with his ‘Make in India campaign’. He felt doubly assured when start-ups were offered Governmental support. Inspired thus, he gave up his job in a huff and attempted a start-up venture. Within a year, his initiative miserably failed. He has been seriously looking for a job ever since, but in vain.

In a state of desperation, the man came asking: “I have been a performer since my childhood. Based on my score at college, I got a very lucrative job. At work too, my performances made me a blue eyed boy of my bosses. How come I failed in my start-up ventureIJ And what lies in store of my futureIJ”

“Caught up in the hang of your intelligence and earlier successes, you became overconfident. That did not let you remain true to yourself”, I responded. He countered, “What do you meanIJ Do you think that any sane person could ever afford being oblivious to one’s own interest, and indulge in self-defeating actsIJ”

Well, you don’t do it consciously. Often, your ahamkara (ego) gets carried away by imprints of earlier success stories and sense of indwelling intelligence.  Also, it identifies itself with your dream perceptions, and then passionately pursues it, as if that would be the desirable end game. It then won’t let you invoke buddhi (the faculty of discriminate intelligence) for due diligence before taking the final call. Evidently, then the probability of failure remains high.

let me add here that intelligence alone can’t deliver success. It needs to be duly supported by the required skill-sets. Here, it is pertinent to note that the skillsets required for serving an organisation and running one’s own enterprise can’t be similar. So, if you performed well as a service holder, doesn’t imply success in entrepreneurial venture as well. And you never cared to figure out whether you possess business acumen or not. The overall environmental conditions too needs to be factored in. And then you are to put in quality efforts.

You took Mr Modi’s campaign on its face value, and never carried reality check on the overall business environment, which was dismal. Also, you were not conscious about checking up on your mental limitations that would stand in way of putting in quality efforts. It is in this sense, I stated that you failed to remain true to your own self, and the result is there to see.

But before I take stock of your possibilities, let me give you a reading in astrological pointers to your inherent frailties that would’ve proved a dampener. The Sun is locked in adverse formation to Venus. This, in the first place, makes you too much sensitive. You may get over exercised even on trivial issues, when your sense of reasons would take a backseat. In the process, your priority preferences may temporarily take a backseat. Also, you may not be good at financial management, which happens to be the key driver of any business. The Sun well aligned to Moon, makes you a comfort loving person.

Mind signifying Moon, ill-disposed off to mischievous Neptune makes you a day-dreamer, often distanced from ground reality. You are basically an escapist, who may not acknowledge truth on its first appearance. Instead, moving on hope against hope, shall remain stuck to your delusionary perceptions, till pushed to the wall. It also makes you vulnerable to losses because of own indiscretions. Mars placed adverse to Uranus makes you temperamental, tactless, irritable, who may at times show signs of even irrationality. Mercury identified with general intelligence locks horns with wisdom signifying Jupiter. This accounts for insensible reasoning and judgment. And when faced with failure and frustration, he may develop inferiority complex, coming as it may with Mars forming unholy alliance with Neptune.

On top of that is his Mercury owned lagna and moon sign, which brings in the illusion of being the best, but not been appreciated by others. Carries a perfectionist streak that makes him measure others by his self-defined standards. If those around don’t prove true to his expectations, he becomes overcritical to the extent of passing caustic remarks, thus often offending others.

He needs to address his fault-lines to remain true to himself.
