All about life is how we relate to the self, those around and the environment. The world happens to be a unified organism where no existence has a reality independent of the whole. It is framed into an interdependent set up where all and sundry have to complement and supplement the efforts of each other to carry on the cycle of life. So, any aberration at one end of the world has to have a far reaching consequences as it happened during the ongoing pandemic. It erupted at some place in China but within no time it overtook the whole world. People are now paying heavy price on account of disruption of world supply chain because of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. We share common pool of resources provided by nature – Air, Water, Solar light and heat, as well as Space. We have to adjust ourselves to the callings of varying weather cycles, which is also vital to food grains production. It, thus, becomes our compulsive need to preserve all the resources vital to weather cycle such as rain forests. Also, we need to be conscious about not to pollute water or air, which we have been rampantly doing for decades. Otherwise, our survival will become questionable, not to say anything on the quality of life. Fact remains that we are not capable of servicing even existential needs in one’s own right. Our provisions are made available by different sectors and regions. We, therefore, essentially need to relate well to the societal framework.
We, thus, have a shared destiny where human factor counts the most. For, they alone enjoy the exclusive privilege to guide their actions by choice and discrimination. But whenever there is choice in hand, it carries equal probability of use and misuse. No other specie enjoys this prerogative. They are bound by their predetermined nature, with no scope to make any exception, and therefore, incapable of making any dent to the nature’s flow. It is only humans, who are accountable for all unseemly activities, be it at unitary level or society at large.
Human factor, thus, deserves special attention. All the more because every human being is born unique, each carrying varying desire and mind trends, often in conflict with others, coming as it may as Karmic carryover from the past. The world, thus, becomes a natural breeding ground for conflict of interests and perceptions. Amidst all this, we have to work out ways and means to live in togetherness, which calls for a lesson in the art of living. In this scheme of things, first, we need to watch how we relate to the self. What does this mean? Look within our minds. For, all that happens out in open is guided by our mind – our virtues and attributes; habit tendencies; desire trends. When you turn your attention inward, first, you will be confronted with random thoughts playing within, most of them inconsequential and even negative, which makes your mind restive. That doesn’t leave scope to process your thoughts objectively. Following a process suggested by learned masters, when the clutters of mind are cleared off, you strike the next layer. You may then be able to see thought patterns that have preconditioned your mind one way or the other – both positive and negative - that influence your day to day conduct. Through fresh educative inputs, when you address the negatives, the positives will begin playing out unhindered to your advantage. Further down the line, you will have access to the whole landscape of mind, when immense power within, dormant thus far, will emerge, which will know no limits. Life may then not only turn into a beautiful experience individually, but you may also lay down the ground for peaceful coexistence. So, how well you relate to the self will define the quality of life we become due for.
The other day someone came complaining about the unseemly conduct of his married partner. I found that his mind signifying Moon was posited in Gemini sign, tenanted in the nakshatra owned by Mars, which in turn crossed path with its planet of nemesis Saturn. It implies that he would wish to live on his own exclusive terms, not able to digest any contrarian view, when he may go wild. On top of that he was eccentric, as the Sun was placed adverse to Uranus. I suggested that if he keeps pushing his partner to the wall, he has to meet resistance. So, he should first address own inherent infirmities before expecting from others to behave.
