Hinting a clear message of a probable poll understanding between the Congress and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), the latter on Saturday said it will contest in only 60 seats out of the total 126 Assembly seats in Assam in the forthcoming polls even as it said that it would leave the remaining 66 seats for “like-minded” and “secular” parties to defeat the BJP.
In a statement issued by the AIUDF on Saturday it said that while the party will contest in 60 seats, it will leave 66 seats to the secular and like-minded parties to stop the BJP from coming to power in Assam.
“We are going to contest in 60 seats in the forthcoming polls. The rest 66 seats, we are leaving to secular and other like-minded parties to stop the BJP in Assam,” said organisational secretary of AIUDF, Aminul Islam.
