Army denies reports of killing of 5 jawans by Pak

The Indian Army on Saturday denied that five of its soldiers were killed in Poonch sector due to Pakistan Army firing and said that a woman was injured on Friday when Pakistan violated ceasefire on the line of Control (lOC) in the same area.

The Pakistan Army claimed to have killed five Indian soldiers while retaliating to India’s “unprovoked” ceasefire violation in Tatta Pani sector along the loC in Poonch.  Indian bunkers were also destroyed in the firing, it claimed adding that Pakistani troops “violently responded,” Pakistan Army spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet. No further details of the cross-border exchange of fire was provided by the Pakistan Army.

While rejecting this claim, the Indian Army said a woman was injured when the Pakistani Army violated ceasefire twice in two sectors of Poonch district by firing mortar shells on forward posts and civilian areas along the loC, prompting Indian troops to retaliate.  Pakistani troops initiated indiscriminate firing in Krishana Ghati sector, the Army said.
