Talktime | Malaika Arora Khan
The sexy actress who was last grooving to a number in Dolly Ki Doli was in the Capital recently to promote an event along with her husband Arbaaz Khan. Kiran Sharma chats her up
What’s keeping you busy these daysIJ
We’re gearing up for the new season of India’s Got Talent. It’s a great platform but we’ve to maintain a hectic work-schedule around it. IGT will eat up most of my time for the next couple of months. But I’m not complaining. I thoroughly enjoy the show and its format. Karan Johar, Kirron Kher and I will make sure to raise the bar by bringing forth talent which speaks volumes.
I’ve also shot for an episode of Farah Ki Daawat which will air tonight on Colors. I’ll be cooking honey glazed chicken legs which is my favourite. I’m a big foodie.
Is Arbaaz Khan also a foodie like youIJ
Oh yes! When I was dating him, I wanted to suprise him by cook something special on Valentine’s Day. But I at that time I didn't know much about cooking. So, I had reached out to my mother who helped me to prepare a special spread for him. He was impressed so much that he proposed to me very the same night. Till date, Arbaaz and my son Armaan are my biggest food critics and I love to cook for them.
So, no Bollywood projects in this durationIJ
I’ll really have no time to even go through scripts. There are a couple of interesting things happening but I can’t talk about them yet.
Do you feel an item number contributes to the success of the filmIJ
Everything plays a part when a film goes on to become a hit. Music and choreography also does, but it is unfair to say that the film became a Box Office hit because of the dance sequence only. A good film requires good team work — from the cinematographer to the spot boy.
From the navy to IGT. How did that happenIJ
I’m lucky to have experienced various roles in this lifetime. I think focus and a great support system was what did the trick for me. I wouldn’t be here if it were not for my family’s support, so a big thank you to them too.
Your take on work-life balanceIJ
I guess the best way to achieve a perfect balance is to be level headed and prioritise right!
Why this Ariel campaignIJ
The moment Arbaaz and I were told about the sharing the load movement; we jumped on it. For a good family bond, it is essential for the husband to spend time with his spouse helping out in the domestic front. If not anything else, this will surely rekindle romance!
