In what has come as a relief to electronic dance music lovers in the metropolis after an initial disappointment, EDM megastar David Guetta will perform at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in north-central Mumbai on Sunday.

A day after they denied permission to the organisers to hold the Sunburn festival at the BKC, the Mumbai police on Saturday gave a go-ahead for the DJ Guetta’s performance at the Reliance Jio Garden at the BKC, on Sunday afternoon.

Making an announcement on their Twitter handle @Sunburn Festival, the organizers said on Saturday afternoon: “….We are pleased to say that we have succeeded to reschedule the #Mumbai event for Sunday January 15th, 1100 hrs – 1600 hrs at the same venue JioGardens Bandra…..#NewDelhi event will be as per schedule too, Jan 15th 1600 hrs onwards…David Guetta would be will be doing two shows on Sunday (15 Jan) in two different cities,” it said.

The organizers said that they were complying with the regulatory requirements as prescribed by authorities.

“We have issued permission for Guetta's event tomorrow to be held in BKC, to where it has been shifted," said deputy commissioner of police (operations) and Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dudhe said.

The city police had denied permission for the Sunburn programme at BKC as the organizers had failed to complete mandatory requirements and legal formalities.

The organizers had initially planned to hold Guetta’s concert at the Mahalaxmi Race Course. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) denied permission for the 'Sunburn Arena' event at the Mahalaxmi Race Course and also at the Reliance Jio Garden, as the concert organizers had failed to make a payment of Rs10 lakh for an earlier event.
