Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Saturday condemned JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar’s speech and stated it as mere ‘demagogy.’
“We welcome this newly-found faith in the ‘constitutional machineries’ as well as ‘Constitution of India’,” rebutted Joint Secretary of JNUSU Saurabh Sharma, adding, “Azadi from hunger or interference was not the slogan raised ever on the campus or on February 9.” ABVP also termed Kumar’s speech full of rhetoric and sham and stated it is as a Dhyan-Bhatkauprayas (distraction) from the gory day of February 9. While abiding by demand of freedom from poverty, hunger, communism, moral policing, patriarchy and more, Sharma said, “We support many ‘Azadis’ adopted by him on March 3 and promises to stand with him in struggle for them.” However, the second moment Sharma phrased Kumar’s attempt as verbose, hollow and hypocrite. “He behaved like a true chameleon. It, however, suffers from inconsistencies of fact, logic and reasoning,” said Sharma.
“Kanhaiya mocked the Narendra Modi Government that it has got only 31 per cent vote and said 69 per cent people are against him,” said Sharma adding, “He must remember that he has got only 1,057 vote against more than 8,000 vote. It goes to 13.21 per cent. By his logic, 87 per cent people oppose him and thereby he cannot be the voice of the JNU.” ABVP got hold of Kanhaiya while he said Rohit Vemulla was his idol not Afzal Guru and questioned him whether he will condemn Umar Khalid for celebrating Afzal and Maqbool as martyr and singing paeans for these savage, blood-thirsty terrorists.
Also, recalling the JNU stir on the campus, Sharma also said, “JNUSU pamphlet issued on February 10 undersigned by him as well as his interview on several channels prior to his arrest contradicts position taken by him on March 3.”
