AAP'S ONE YEAR - Report card out

Congress gives AAP ‘zero’

Former Cabinet Ministers of Sheila Dikshit assembled at the AICC under the leadership of Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken to present a report card of Arvind Kejriwal Government’s one year. Maken declared that the Government has scored “zero out of hundred” in terms of performance appraisal of past one year.

Maken claimed that the performance rating was below “zero” and this can be rated as minus growth. Maken released five cartoons depicting failures of Arvind Kejriwal and five minutes video cassette containing lucid song. The opening line of the song is “raghupati raghav raja ram, Kejriwal ko sadboodhi de bhagwan”. This cassette will be played during a candle march of the Delhi Congress to observe “chhalawa divas” (illusion day) from Rajghat to ITO on Sunday evening.

“It is a complete failure. They could not fulfil their promises. The Kejriwal Government had scored “zero out of hundred” in its performance in the first year of its term. The list is very long,” said Maken while releasing a 20 pages report card entitled “Kejriwal ek saal, Delhi behaal” (One year of Kejriwal: Delhi in a bad shape).

The former Minister said the party will go to people to tell them about the “failures” of the Government. “The Kejriwal Government had been ‘finding excuses not to work’ betraying those who elected it to office,” he added. The report card talks about the failures of the Government in terms of governance, principles that AAP espoused, “politics of conflict”, “stagnation” in development, price rise and the security of women.

“The AAP Government followed a course of conflict with the Centre and other agencies to divert focus from their governance and lack of delivery on their promises, shrugging of its responsibility while passing the blame to others,” he said, giving a power-point presentation on the Arvind Kejriwal-led dispensation. Maken accused that within a year AAP MlAs have become Khas. “The Kejriwal Government not only committed fraud by coming out with the weakest ever lokpal, it also gave a 400 per cent hike to party MlAs transforming them from Aam Aadmi to Khas (VIP) Aadmi,” he said.

The Government too “failed” in its promise of giving corruption-free governance as its own legislators and Ministers faced allegations of corruption, Maken said. Several senior Congress leaders, including in-charge of Delhi affairs PC Chako were present.

“The Delhi Congress was at the forefront of exposing various scams of the Government, including onion and sugar scams as well as protesting against party leaders and Ministers who faced a range of allegations, including land grabbing, bribery and possessing fake degrees,” he said. The much-talked about experiment of odd-even car rationing scheme to curb pollution in the city which the Government included in one of its achievements was successful because people on their own participated in it, he claimed.

On the development front too, the Kejriwal Government “failed completely” as no new projects have been taken up by it, he said, adding the credit of many infrastructure projects started by the erstwhile Sheila Dikshit Government were claimed by it.
