The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday promised to give special status to villages and review some clauses of the Delhi land Reforms Act if it comes to power in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. In its fourth Delhi Dialogue at Matiala on Sunday, the party will dedicate a session to address the problems of rural Delhi, party leader Ashish Khetan told the media.
The mere fact that the villages of Delhi account to 4.20 lakh population with 300 sq km area substantiates the commitment the need to attach significance to them, Khetan said adding, "Unfortunately, the other political parties have neglected the villages of Delhi and it doesn't find space in either BJP's or Congress' manifesto." Highlighting challenges faced by villages in Delhi, Khetan said, "the AAP will open 20 new colleges in villages where the children of villages will have the first right to enroll. Community centres and sports facilities will also be set up in the villages."
