AAP shedding croc tears for farmers: Cong

Taking a dig at AAP MlAs visit to villages to assess crop damage due to unseasonal rainfall, the Delhi Congress on Saturday alleged that AAP leaders are shedding crocodile tears in the name of farmers and their plight. Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken claimed that none of the AAP leaders had visited the villages which had suffered losses due to unpredicted rainfall and hailstorm. He alleged that the Chief Ministers of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan have been visiting villages in their States to find out for themselves the losses suffered by the farmers, and have sought compensation for the farmers from the Central Government, but the AAP seemed to have no time to come out of the Delhi Secretariat and meet the farmers living just 5 km away, and seek compensation for them.

The former Union Minister alleged that when the farmers of Delhi were shedding tears at the destruction of their crops following rain and hailstorm, the AAP leaders could spare no time to visit the farmers to enquire about their problems, as they were fighting among themselves, trying to pull down each other, in a bid to ensure the supremacy of a few leaders in the party. He claimed that the Congress leaders were the first to visit the villages of Delhi, which suffered destruction of crops, to find out the plight of the farmers, and the steps that needed to be taken immediately to give prompt relief to the farmers to compensate for the losses they had suffered.
