AAP failed to frame rules for food security: loP

Published on:

leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said the Aam Aadmi Party Government has failed to frame and notify rules for implementation of 'National Food Security Act' even five years after it was enacted.

He demanded that the Government should take all possible steps to implement the “National Food Security Act” in accordance with the directions issued by the Delhi High Court.

Referring to the distressing incident of death due to starvation of three children in Mandavi area of Delhi, he said that Delhi Government should take all possible steps to ensure that no one in the city become victim of starvation again, he said.

Gupta said that there is no legal backing for guidelines made by the Delhi Government as it has not framed and promulgated rules to ensure accountability, transparency and to establish grievance redressal mechanism. National Food Security Act has provisions for setting of 'State Food Commission' and for appointment of district grievance redressal officers, he said.
