To garner support of people from all walks of life, a campaign — ‘Red’ — has been initiated from the organisers of ladakh International Film Festival (lIFF) recently to create awareness against molestation, female infanticide and foeticide. The organisors also intend to achieve target of 37 million signatures in support of the campaign.
“Thirty-seven million is the gender gap between males and females in India. This is the campaign which does not go out on the street, takes on the Government or talks about changing others. Campaign ‘RED’ is all about change oneself and influencing others to a better and inspired living,” said Meghna Agnihotri, Director of lIFF.
Recently, a delegation of volunteers of the campaign also met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the Capital. Urging people to join the campaign in large number, the organisors said join us against violence against women and children-not only rapes, but all cases of female infanticide and foeticide, harassment, rape, honour and dowry killing. “We demand Respect, Equality and Dignity-”RED” for the women and Children of our country,” said she. “let’s put our hands together to express solidarity to these 37 million missing women. This movement must go on until justice is done for all our daughters and sisters,” she added.
