There are 34 hospitals in Delhi run by the city Government. Of these, only five super-specialty hospitals have world-class treatment facilities.

At present, the facility is available at lok Nayak Hospital and GB Pant Hospital only. Earlier, the Health Minister had told The Pioneer that under PPP (Private Public Partnership) model, the Government is planning to float the tenders for the CT scan and MRI machines. He also informed that dialysis facilities will also be started in hospitals too.

According to Jain, Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, Ambedkar Hospital will start the facility soon and the Government is selecting more hospitals to launch this medical facility.

GTB Hospital, which caters to more than 5,000 patients in OPD everyday, has only CT scan facility. Speaking to The Pioneer, Dr Sunil Kumar, Medical Superintendent of GTB hospital, said, “We get thousands of patients for the CT scan and MRI checkups. There is a long waiting list for the patients who want their CT scan done. Since, we don’t have MRI facility, our doctors recommend them to lok Nayak Hospital.”
