A 22-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in North-East Delhi's Karawal Nagar on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the incident occurred around
1 pm. Renu (22) was found hanging at her residence and her husband, Manish (24), lay unconscious on the floor.
Her husband was rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where he was discharged later.
Preliminary investigations revealed that when the man saw his wife hanging in the house, he pretended to be unconscious, fearing the blame would be cat on him.
He had not consumed any poisonous substance. The woman's parents, in a statement to police, stated that her husband used to torture her for dowry.
A case of dowry death has been registered at Karawal Nagar Police Station and the police are investigating the case.
