Rajamouli a storyteller

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, whose Bahubali series had won over crowds of audience across the world, says he feels he is a better storyteller than a director. “I am a fantastic story teller. I narrate the character in the best way to my actors and they get interested in it. I also ask them how the character would react to a particular situation,” he said.

Interacting with students of the Manipal Institute of Technology held as part of their diamond jubilee lecture series, he said mythology was in his blood. He had grown up reading Balaramayana, Amar Chitra Katha' comics and books on kings which were available in Telugu.

The director said the character he liked the most in Mahabharath is that of Karna. “I used to get goose bumps and tears in my eyes reading his story,” he said.

With his experience, Rajamouli said he could now decide which actor should be doing the role of a particular character. Earlier, he used to select actors after doing the script.

‘It’s cool to be a superhero’

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch says even though he is late to the genre of superheroes, it is “very cool” to be a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 41-year-old actor, who played superhero Doctor Strange, is set to reprise his role in both Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War. “It’s 10 years coming. It’s just a huge, huge amount of work, huge  amount of storylines and it’s all sort of pointing to this confrontation. It’s amazing to be part of it even though I’m late to the party,” he said.

Avengers: Infinity War will see the Avengers superhero team joining  forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight the powerful intergalactic villain Thanos.

like parents like daughter

Actor Catherine Zeta-Jones says her 14-year-old daughter Carys Douglas is determined to follow in her parent’s footsteps. The 47-year-old actor, who raises her daughter and son Dylan with  husband Michael Douglas, says Carys developed an interest in acting after she attended New York Fashion Week.

“She wants to get into the business in all its capacity. She is a wonderful actress and wonderful singer and pianist but she loves fashion. She’s very head strung in her career. A doctor has always been in the cards but acting is her passion,” Zeta-Jones said.

‘Acting helped me deal with anxiety & panic attacks’

“I was a very, very anxious child and I had a lot of panic attacks. I benefited in a big way from therapy. I started it at seven. Acting and improvisation helped me so much,” she said.

Stone said while growing up she never believed that she would be able to leave Arizona but she moved to Hollywood for a career in acting when she was 15.
