Woman gets fed up with being single, and marries herself!

A woman so fed up with the dating scene and single life has become the first person in Britain to marry herself. Grace Gelder even ‘proposed’ to herself on a park bench and staged a full wedding ceremony with 50 guests. The photographer said that after being single for six years she had built up a brilliant relationship with herself, and creating that bond with someone else seemed like too much hard work.

Inspired by the Björk song Isobel, which includes the line, ‘My name’s Isobel, married to myself’, the londoner said the lyric struck a chord with her and it was then that she decided to walk solo down the aisle. From proposing to herself on the park bench in Parliament Hill, london, last November, right through to the ceremony in mid-March this year, the matrimony was approached like an ordinary wedding. Grace bought a dress, a ring, rehearsed vows and eventually wed in a farmhouse in rural Devon watched by her sister and friends — sealing the deal by planting a kiss on a mirror. She said: “A few did comment, in a light-hearted way, that it was a bit narcissistic. I was under no illusion how self-indulgent that might appear.

Fish with human teeth discovered in Russia

A fish with human teeth caught by a fisherman in Russia is likely a strange piranha, scientists said.

The fisherman, Alexander Korobov, said he found an unusual creature while fishing in Arkhangelsk.

“I took it in my hands and smelled it. It seemed to be fresh. I opened the gills — they were red. Yet, the mouth did not look like the mouth of a bream. I opened its mouth and was horrified to see human-like teeth in there. I got a bit scared,” he said.

Korobov took the fish to a local department of fishery, where Andrey Rumyantsev, senior inspector of the Department of State Control and Protection of Water Resources of the Arkhangelsk region, said he also had difficulty identifying the animal.

“The fish looks like a bream, but the scales of it and the presence of adipose fin makes it look like salmon. Yet, salmon can not be the size of bream. The teeth of the fish looked like human. This fish is not from our region,” he said. Meanwhile, experts at the Institute of Fishery and Oceanography, said they think it’s a piranha.

“This is a piranha, but the fact is that there are more than 90 species of piranhas. This fish is a herbivorous piranha,” a scientist told Pravda.

Get a ‘Hugging Chair’ To Cure loneliness

One hug used to take two people, but that’s changed thanks to a Japanese company that has invented a chair that does the job. The so-called “tranquility chair” has an upper half with arms that wrap around the sitter.

But those long arms don’t scare away birds, they embrace humans affectionately, the New York Daily News reports. UniCare, the company that created the cheer-inducing chair, is selling it in Japan for around $419.

“It makes you feel safe,” a UniCare spokesperson said, according to Oddity Central. “Anyone can use it, but it is designed for older people.” Japan’s population is aging quickly. About 25 per cent of citizens are over the age of 65 and the figure is expected to rise to 40 per cent in the coming decades.

That means a lot of elderly people who will need hugs, and that’s where the chair will be helpful, a company spokesman told the Daily Mail.

“The chairs are comforting for people who live alone — they can talk to them and hug them,” the spokesman said. “They also play old Japanese music, which is nostalgic for older people.”

No word on when or if the hugging chairs would come to other parts of the world. Would you get oneIJ

Man pays $25K to see Rock of Ages 500 times

A Virginia man said he’s spent about $25,000 to see the play Rock of Ages some 500 times since 2009. Abe Calimag must really love big hair and spandex pants because not only has he laid down some serious cash to see the musical, he’s travelled around the world as well.

The business consultant first saw Rock of Ages in 2009 after learning one of his favorite actresses, Amy Spanger, was in it. She wasn’t in the cast that night, July, 1, 2009, but he fell in love anyway.

Calimag has since travelled to several states, six countries and even taken a handful of cruises to see the production.

“It’s the way they took the songs and shaped the story and conveyed the emotion,” he told the New York Post. “That’s different from anything else I’d seen before.”

“People hear a number and think, ‘You’re nuts! You can buy a car for that!’ “ he added. “People have seen Bon Jovi concerts a hundred times — it’s what they enjoy. This is what I enjoy.”

He said he doesn’t think the actors consider him a stalker for how many times he’s attended. In fact, the producers gave him a ticket to his 500th show on the house.

“Seeing a familiar face in the audience gives them a little bit of a boost,” Calimag said. “They know someone was there who cared enough to see them.”
