Mobile tower emissions a threatIJ

Experiencing call dropsIJ It could be linked to the apprehensions surrounding public health hazards of mobile tower emissions, a telecom expert has said. Moreover, these could also hinder the new Government's plan to roll out broadband services extensively across the country. “One of the reasons behind call drops is that because of the apprehensions of electro-magnetic field (EMF) emissions from the antenna of mobile phone towers... local operators have pulled down towers. Myths of cancer from radiations without any reasonable scientific basis have affected the industry,” said Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) director general Rajan S Mathews.

Photos can Diagnose rare disorder

Oxford scientists have developed a new face-recognition software that can help diagnose extremely rare genetic conditions in children using family photographs. The computer programme recognises facial features in photographs, looks for similarities with facial structures for various conditions, such as Down's syndrome, Angelman syndrome, or Progeria, and returns possible matches ranked by likelihood. Using the latest technology in computer vision, the algorithm learns what facial features to pay attention to and what to ignore from a growing bank of photographs of people diagnosed with different syndromes. While genetic disorders are each individually rare, collectively these conditions are thought to affect one person in 17. Of these, a third may have symptoms that greatly reduce quality of life.

Good hair day throughout the year

A simple hairstyle could change your whole look. But even a good hairstyle is at its best when you have undamaged beautiful hair. Hair expert Adhuna Akhtar says, “If you follow certain hair care tips, you can have great hair that will be malleable to styling without chopping them. Use a conditioner and even though conditioner has a thinning effect and most women love volume, it must be used just towards on the ends.” Meanwhile, Creative Director of Monsoon Salon and Spa, Rod Anker advises, “Get yourself a leave-in serum with UV and moisture protection as it will keep your hair shiny and help you sail through your toughest hair days.” In addition, regular treatments, protein packs, dehydration and moisture packs will revive your tresses.
