Doctor forgets to remove appendix in appendectomy
Forty-three-year old William McCormack of Bronxville, New York, needed an appendectomy at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac lake, New York, when he started to have stomach pains while visiting lake Placid. During surgery it was discovered that his appendix was still inside him. Why is that strangeIJ Because, as The Journal News reports, Mr McCormack had had an appendectomy in 2013. It would appear that first time he got the procedure, his doctor had forgotten to actually remove his appendix. Now, Mr McCormack is suing lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, and its former director of surgery, Dr Michael Kerin. WCBS 880 spoke with McCormack’s attorney, Mitchell Baker. Mr Baker told the news station, “We have an operative report from lawrence Hospital saying that the appendix was removed. Most importantly, we have the pathology report from lawrence Hospital after the first operation which says what was presented to the pathology department was not the appendix.” The Journal News notes that Dr Kerin electronically signed the operative report.

Crocodile caught at California shopping centre
A crocodile has been turned over to officials who are pondering where to send the reptile a day after it was captured roaming around a Northern California shopping centre.Authorities say the croc escaped from a plastic container outside a pet store in Roseville. They think it had been abandoned by owners who didn’t want it anymore.
The animal had grown four-feet long, and its jaws had been wrapped shut with heavy-duty tape. There was a note identifying it as a Nile crocodile and requesting someone “call rescue.” Police say no one was hurt Wednesday.
The animal has been placed with California Fish and Wildlife officials who say it’s eating as much rainbow trout as possible while they try to find it a long-term home, most likely a zoo. (AP)
1748 hotel is the site of ghostly encounters
Third generation owners and operators of Hotel Somerset in Somerville, New Jersey, claim that several ghosts haunt the boarding house.
For years Tom and Shannon McCormick have heard residents’ claims of supernatural encounters in the historic hotel and pub, and experienced many themselves. As reported by WNYW Fox 5 News, the accounts include people feeling soft touches on their skin, closet doors slamming, whispers and even tickles. “Going in there to change the soda and I just heard someone say, ‘Help me,’ in my ear,” Ms McCormick recalled. “My ear went like, numb.” Her five-year-old son saw the ghost of a girl two hours later. Tom McCormick was once a skeptic but recently said, “You have to experience it to believe it. You could have told me all day long any type of ghost story you want before it happened to me, I would never believe it. You have have an experience to be a believer.” (Yahoo News)
