Heart attack doesn’t appear suddenly

If you think that sudden cardiac arrest appears always suddenly for you, then there is a need to change your mindset as latest study suggests that it always comes with some warning signs up to a month before. According to a new study, the sudden cardiac arrest isn’t always so sudden. In a study of middle-age men in Portland, Oregon, more than 50 percent had possible warning signs up to a month before their hearts stopped abruptly. According to lead author Eloi Marijon, of Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in los Angeles, by the time rescuers get there, it’s much too late. Almost 80 per cent of the symptoms occurred between four weeks and one hour before the sudden cardiac arrest, he said.

Texting can help you lose weight

Keeping track of your diet and exercise habits through text-messaging can help you lose more weight, a new study has claimed. Previous research has shown that when people keep track of their diet and exercise habits, they do better at losing weight. However, sticking with detailed monitoring of what you eat and your exercise habits electronically or via traditional pen and paper can prove cumbersome. If people stop doing it, they may stop losing weight. Tracking this information through text messages could save time and improve the likelihood of people sticking with their get-healthy routine, said researchers at Duke University. Their study found that after six months, 26 obese women who used daily texting lost nearly 1.3 kg, while another 24 who followed traditional methods gained 1.1 kg.

BoredIJ You could be depressed

Scientists have actually identified a new type of boredom that they call apathetic boredom which is described as an unpleasant form of the emotion that resembles helplessness or depression. According to scientists, there are four kinds of boredom based on levels arousal. Indifferent boredom: A state where a person feels relaxed, withdrawn to their surroundings. Calibrating boredom: Uncertain boredom but receptive to change or distraction. Searching boredom: When a person’s restless and is looking for change or a distraction. Reactant boredom: When a person is motivated to leave a situation for specific alternatives. Now researchers claim to have identified a fifth type called apathetic boredom which is somewhat similar to a feeling of helplessness and/or depression.
