Good innovation

Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is not bad considering the earlier games in this genre. Carrying a console game to a portable platform is always taking a risk but the makers have done quite a good job out of the game. Games like Assassin’s Creed 3: liberation and Uncharted: Golden Abyss have successfully demonstrated that the PlayStation Vita is capable. The ‘campaign’ in this game is meant to fill in the narrative gaps between Black Ops and Black Ops 2, sending players out on a series of missions involving familiar characters like Mason, Woods, and Hudson from the Treyarch line.

In all there are 10 missions (with separate Time Trials), laid out in a menu that bears no small resemblance to the Spec Ops menus in Modern Warfare games, complete with three-star ratings next to each item.

Before the future could be won, history had to be written and so exposing that story exclusively on PlayStation Vita, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified explores original fiction in the Call of Duty: Black Ops universe with an all-new campaign of Special Ops missions.

Optimised for gamers on-the-go, this game delivers the most intense handheld experience to date, including both Special Ops Story mode and Multiplayer combat tailored for the PS Vita. The feeling that this campaign is a laced up Spec Ops mode lingers after you jump into a mission as well. The franchise’s focus on blockbuster spectacle in its campaigns is completely absent, replaced by straightforward running and gunning through a series of bland war-torn urban environments. Each mission is also a minutes-long affair.
