Not that bad

There are many PC manufacturers who have eyed the booming smartphone market in India. Be it, Dell’s XCD35, HP’s Pre3 and Veer or HCl’s Rythme have all been ineffective at the market. However, lenevo is the only player from this sector, which has been able to garner some positive consumer reactions with their budget smartphones like P700i and now, P770.

Priced at Rs14,500, the phone has a long battery life, easily withstanding a-day-and-a-half to two days. It also features a dual-sim. However, the camera quality is disappointing and slows down while playing games.

As far as the design and built is concerned, this one is a little bulky, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Note II. The only good part about the design is the solidity of this phone. It isn’t hard to imagine that it can take a few knocks and falls without much damage.

The P770 screen and display is an IPS type with 540X960 pixels. The display is bright and the sunlight legibility is just about viewable. The contrast isn’t up to the mark as compared to other phones in the same segment. While the phone doesn’t hang as often and the keys work just fine, yet the on-screen keypad isn’t quite responsive. The music and recorder too are good.

Overall the phone is a decent buy with more positives than negatives, however at this price range, the XOlO Q700 is a much better buy on the Android platform. If one is willing to shift out of Android, Nokia lumia 620 is a good option in this segment.
