2 months on, mystery over death of child in Ryan school lingers
Published on:

It has been two months since  body of six-year-old Devansh Kacrorat was found floating in a water tank on the premises of Ryan International School, but the mystery still hangs over his death.

In the lastest development certain photographs captured by The Pioneer during an inspection of the spot raise a very serious question as to how could a six-year-old child negotiate a number of barriers before reaching to the water tank without being noticed by anyoneIJ

The water tank is situated  in one of the two rooms below an Amphitheatre that are protected iron doors. Besides, there is no direct entry to the water tank area.

The space below the theatre has two iron doors: number 4 and number 5. Number 4 door leads to the pump room. It may also be noted that the school authorities have now put up posters on notifying the pump room and the store room ‘out of bounds’. Again, a question arises as to  why school authorities failed to do so in the past.

It’s narrow passage to the chamber that houses the water tank inside the pump room as the room is filled with tyres, some open wiring and few electric motors.

Now the opening of the chamber is two feet high from  the ground which makes it nearly impossible for the child  to jump onto the slab and reach the water tank.

So did someone else took him thereIJ

The water tank has 2X2 square opening and was covered with a heavy square stone slab. Devansh’s mother, Mamta Meena had previously also stated that the water tank was always covered with a heavy lid weighing nearly 20 kg and Devyansh was incapable of pushing it aside.

The spot inspection raises enough doubts, and supports Ramhet Meena and Mamta Meena, Devansh’s parents allegations of foul play and sexual assault on their son, which were denied by the school authority.

Allegations were later investigated upon by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).

While Ryan School’s principal Sandhaya Sabu came up with the claim of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) in Devansh, the SDM report stated, “Sabu was asked to tell when she came to know about this condition of the kid. Her answer was, ‘after his death’… the Principal did not know Devansh personally before his death. It is important to note that no complaints regarding Devansh ever came across to Class I to V Supervisor and Principal.”

The report further stated, “Rather fuelling such unfounded baseless statements is a mental harassment… Therefore, this casts all the more aspersions as to why the school emphasises on child being hyperactive. Hidden motives on part of school management to camouflage the real reason cannot be ruled out.”

The Pioneer in its report dated February 2, 2016 covered all claims of the school authorities and its counter reactions from the parents.
